Netflix to Release Explosive Documentary on Guns N’ Roses – Arriving July 20, 2025
Netflix is about to crank the volume all the way up. The streaming giant has officially wrapped production on a brand-new documentary chronicling the rise, chaos, and legacy of one of the most iconic rock bands in music history—Guns N’ Roses. The film is set for global release on July 20, 2025, and promises a no-holds-barred look at the band that changed rock ‘n’ roll forever.
“We’re happy to announce that we are done with production and it will be released on 20th July 2025,” Netflix confirmed in a statement. “This project is a deep dive into the story of a band that defined a generation, broke the rules, and left an unforgettable mark on music history.”
From the Sunset Strip to stadiums around the world, Guns N’ Roses redefined the sound and style of late ‘80s and early ‘90s rock. The documentary will chart the band’s wild beginnings, meteoric rise, internal implosions, and their eventual reunion—offering fans a backstage pass into the madness and the magic of GNR.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Riley Scott, the documentary has been in the works for over two years and features never-before-seen footage, exclusive interviews, and raw, behind-the-scenes stories told by the band members themselves—including Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, and other past and present contributors.
“Guns N’ Roses wasn’t just a band—they were a movement,” Scott shared. “They embodied rebellion, vulnerability, and unfiltered energy. This film doesn’t just tell their story—it feels like their story.”
The documentary promises to cover everything from the explosive success of Appetite for Destruction, to the chaos surrounding the Use Your Illusion era, to Axl’s battles with fame, Slash’s departure, and the band’s eventual reunion that no one ever thought would happen. It also dives into the personal struggles, addictions, and artistic visions that shaped the music.
Fans can also expect archival footage from legendary concerts, including their infamous 1991 St. Louis show and headlining moments at Rock in Rio and Coachella. The film will explore not just the performances, but the price of global fame and the internal pressure that came with it.
Musicians from across genres also appear in the documentary, sharing how GNR influenced their sound, style, and approach to music. Contributions from artists like Dave Grohl, Billie Joe Armstrong, Lars Ulrich, and even newer voices like Machine Gun Kelly and H.E.R. showcase the band’s lasting legacy.
Netflix has also secured the rights to feature rare demos, unreleased versions of iconic tracks, and private rehearsal sessions from the band’s archives. For die-hard fans, this will be a treasure trove of raw, unfiltered Guns N’ Roses history.
A full trailer will be released in June, and Netflix has teased a live premiere event on July 19 with the band attending in person. Rumors are swirling that a special performance may be in the works to celebrate the documentary’s launch.
Social media is already exploding with anticipation. Hashtags like #GNRNetflixDoc and #WelcomeToTheDocumentary are trending, as fans gear up to relive the riffs, the riots, and the raw energy that made GNR legendary.
Mark your calendars for July 20, 2025. Netflix is ready to unleash the untold story of Guns N’ Roses—loud, unapologetic, and unforgettable.
